When you think of PEMD and Electech together, think of anything that can create, control and monitor electrical energy that can make things happen – such as a motor, generator or power switching system. Electech is an industry sector that develops and manufactures the electronics and electrical products that underpin the electrified world. Most PEMD technologies have a control systems containing printed circuit boards (PCBs), which needs programming, testing and designing.

Why PEMD specifically? Currently there is a big gap in skills regarding this area. Working to keep wind turbines turning, building many electric vehicles and helping the UK reach its net zero targets should be a goal that we are reaching for, but at the moment the PEMD and electech industry is struggling to find enough people in the UK to do this important work.

E-Power wants to help the UK raise skill levels and help companies find the personnel they need, who also have the required knowledge to keep driving the industry forward. It’s important that we keep training people so that we are not falling short within the fields of energy, transport and industrial electrification and decarbonisation.
